Nathaniel drew closer to the glass, and like a small child pressed his nose, and hands, to the transparent wall. “Come out, come out, wherever you are.” He muttered under his breath as his eyes searched the man-made habitat, but it wasn't the snow leopard that caught his eye. A small boy, no older than six, stood beside him, transfixed on Nathaniel as if he never saw something like it. Nathaniel stared back and blinked, an amused look falling over his countenance. It didn't occur to him until then how odd he must appear. A grown man pushing himself against glass and whispering to an animal that, most likely, couldn't hear him and even if it did, didn't want anything to do with the beings on the other side of the glass. Yeah. It was weird, and he apparently wasn't the only one who thought so as he heard a woman harshly call out a name and the boy flinched in response. “Uh-oh. I think your mommy wants you.” His quiet remark, which really was only meant for the boy's ears, was followed by a boisterous breath of disapproval and a 'DON'T TALK TO STRANGERS!'. Even without his beyond-normal hearing, he would have heard it, and it shamed him to some degree as the boy zipped from the wall and shuffled after his raging mother. Nathaniel was almost afraid to look over his shoulder, so he remained plastered to the wall and quickly returned his attention to the task at hand: finding the snow leopard! But the mother's tone and accusation continued to play quietly in his ear. He was strange because he was alone at the zoo? It wasn't his fault that he had no children, and besides...

Yes, Hayley was at the zoo because she had to make money somehow. She couldn’t very well mooch off her adoptive parents, now could she? No, she had to make her own money to pay for HER apartment, and for HER car. She couldn’t rely on them for everything, it was time she grew up, and did things for herself. But this wasn’t exactly what Hayley had in mind when she said that she would teach dance class to younger kids. Apparently, they didn’t mean teach, they meant, ‘watch the kids while us adults go over here and laugh and talk’. Oh, how they pissed Hayley off. Thinking that they are such awesome parents, but they weren’t. They were quite the opposite of that. Hayley was about to explode though, if these kids did not remain calm and shut up. Hayley’s eyes shifted to one little boy who ran up to the glass of a snow leopard. Whatever, as long as no creep took him, and he was still in her view. Thank God for her training in hunting, or she would never be able to keep track of so many kids at one time.
While Hayley was busy with another kid, she heard the yell of Beatrice, the mother of the little who had run over to the glass. Hayley immediately jerked up from the kid in front of her, and looked around and found the little boy with a man. Well, the man wasn’t doing anything to him, he wasn’t even talking to him. He was just staring into the glass, which really didn’t help him. Hayley flinched slightly when the woman yelled again. She had a feeling that she was about to be chewed out by her. Hayley guessed right too because not five minutes later, Beatrice was standing there, hands on her hips glaring at the girl. ”WHAT WERE YOU THINKING!?
Hayley stared at the woman, and said, ”That another kid needed my help at the current moment, and he was in my view. The guy wasn’t even talking to him for Christ sakes! Jesus, let them have some freedom!” After Hayley said her words, she regretted them. Not only did she regret them, she was fired on spot with all those people watching. How nice, a hunter like her couldn’t even keep the simplest of jobs. Not that watching kids in a group that big was easy, because it wasn’t. Hayley walked over to the benches, by the glass where the kid had been standing, and sat down quietly. She sighed heavily, and looked over at the guy. He was kind of cute, well, really cute actually. Though he looked kind of creepy pressed up against the glass like that. Hayley, being the girl that she was, said, ”Pressing up against the glass like that won’t help you see it. You’ll just frighten it, it’s not use to seeing people so up close.” She smiled kindly at him. ”Oh, um sorry. I wasn’t saying you were ugly or anything. Just that when little kids bang on the glass and put their noses against the glass, it freaks them out,” she said right after that. She had a habit of saying what came to her head right then. Hayley brushed back some of her loose brown hair, then said, ”I’m Hayley by the way, not that my name is of importance to you.” She extended her hand to the guy politely.
