Today was the day that Lev had promised Markov that he'd take him to the beach. He didn't have to work, so he had the whole day to spend doing whatever Markov wanted. And Levy wasn't about to object to it either. While some parents didn't like taking time out of whatever schedule they had, Lev wasn't like that. Markov was his life, and he'd do anything for him. He cherished every moment that he was with him, and Markov meant more to him than life itself. This was why he had promised the whole day to his son, and at the moment, he was still at home as he helped Markov to pack up some things. He had a few toys and stuff that he wanted to bring along, and he asked Levy to help him pick some out. Once he did and Markov was ready to leave, he told Issy and they went out to his truck. Then he pulled out and made his way towards the beach.
It wasn't all too far, but when Markov was around, everything seemed to go by in no time. That included the drive, and fifteen minutes seemed more like three. When they got to the parking area, Lev parked his truck and helped Markov out. Then he took the stuff he packed up in one hand, and his son's hand in the other. With Issy on the other side of him, they walked towards the beach with Markov in the middle. "We're finally here." Lev said to him with a smile. He knew that the boy had been looking forward to it, ever since Lev made the promise. He and Lev seemed like the perfect father and son pair, and it was adorable to know how much Markov loved being with Lev. He often heard from Issy and his son as well, about how much he missed his dad whenever Lev had to work late.
It was because of this, that Lev hated working overtime. While the extra pay was good, it took time away from seeing Markov. In fact, it wasn't rare for Lev to come home, and Markov to already be in bed. If that was the case, Lev simply went to his room and woke him up for a moment to say goodnight. Markov didn't seem to mind at all though, it actually made him happy. And to see a smile on his face was something Lev would never get tired of. One of his smiles was enough to brighten his whole week. So if things got tough at work, all he'd have to do is think of Markov's smile and it'd be instant relief. He also had a picture of him that he kept at work, and that helped out a lot as well. However, Lev didn't ever bring that picture with him out into the streets as he hunted. He didn't want it falling into the wrong hands, and that person or persons finding out that he had a son.
For now though, he didn't have to imagine Markov's smile. Both he, Issy, and Markov were all at the beach. There was already a smile on his face, and seeing Markov smile made Lev smile as well. Once they were on the sand, he began looking for a spot on the beach. It wasn't all that hard since a lot of people were at work. So he placed a towel down and looked at Markov. "Want to go out to the water?" He asked with a smile. While he knew Markov definitely wanted to play, Lev wanted to play with him as well. Again, he was usually at work all the time, and didn't get to see him much during the day. So he was dedicating his time now to his son...each and every second of it. Since the night before, Markov had been bursting with excitement over spending a day at the beach with his mommy and daddy; but he was especially excited about having a day with his daddy. From the moment his mommy told him that Daddy was going to be home all day, he practically fluttered around the house in all of his excitement. Days with his daddy were rare, and it was days like the one promised that made him soar with unmeasurable happiness. Sleep evaded him all night, or so it felt, and the moment the sun poked through his window in the morning, Markov was up and bounding around his room for toys that would accompany him on his trip to the beach.
The entirety of his toy box ended up on the floor in a massive, jumbled heap of toys, but before he could get to sorting through them Issy came in, as she did every morning, and whisked him away to eat breakfast; it was a little hard to focus on food when all he could think about were his toys back in his room, but he managed, and no sooner had he finished his daddy came into the kitchen and offered to help him with packing. Ditching the kitchen in a matter of seconds, Markov dashed back to his room and with the help of his father had the toys he wanted packed and ready to go.
Lev gathered everything they were bringing with them, and then the three of them were out the door and in the truck. The car ride couldn't have been longer if time itself came to a dead-stop; aside from spending the day with his father, which had him already exuberant, they were going to the beach and that was like icing on the cake for him. Sand and water were two of his most favorite things in the entire world, his parents aside; and despite only being all of four years old, he was already a master sandcastle builder, if he did say so himself. Which he does. He felt close to exploding during the length of the car ride, and to keep from bursting out of his seat he busied himself with looking out the window and playing I Spy with his parents. Despite how long it felt, playing the game truly did help with making time go by faster and his eyes grew wide and bright as the beach came into view.
Grinning from ear to ear, Markov happily slid out of the truck, with his mother's help, and glanced around the shoreline. His bright blue eyes sparkled as he looked out toward the water and there was nothing, in that moment, that could take the smile from his face. He would have bounded off for the beach within moments, if it weren't for his parents taking his hands and walking with him; still, he hopped more than walked as they headed for the sand. Markov wiggled his hands out of his parents' hold as his father set their towels out, and turned his attention to the ground, smiling. “Mommy, sand!” He chirped happily, but his attention wasn't on seeing if his mother was paying attention to the fact that there was sand everywhere, it was on the sand itself.
The sand squished delightfully beneath his feet, and within seconds he flopped down into the sand and tore off his shoes. His smile, if it was at all possible, brightened as he dug his toes into the warm sand, and wiggled them around. A shiver worked up his spine as he felt the grains shift between his toes, and a giggle worked it's way out of him as the sand tickled his feet; but his attention was swiftly stolen as he heard his father's voice, and his eyes drifted off to Lev. Markov nodded furiously in answer to his father's question, excitement tumbling down his entire body as he made to stand up. “Yes!” He squealed, his bright blue eyes dancing off to the water. The sound of the waves on the shore only deepened his excitement, as well as the scent of the water. He loved the smell of the water, almost more than anything; longing to be in the water, not caring whether it was cold or not, he quickly pulled on the bottom of his shirt.
In all of his excitement, he couldn't get his shirt off fast enough; in fact, his frantic and excited movements made him get stuck in his shirt. He didn't have time to feel panicked as his mother's hands worked their magic and within a second his head popped out of his shirt and he was free of the fabric he managed to get himself tangled in. “Okay, Daddy!” Markov once more squealed as he made to dart toward his father, but before he could get more than two steps away his mother's arms were around him and he let out a small, surprised noise. Now what?!
“Aha, wait. You aren't going anywhere without sunscreen. ” His mother mused, and his smile somewhat fell as he cast his father a pleading look. Not the horrible, white, goopy, sticky stuff... His hope of his father stepping in and saving him from the horrible stuff fell as his mother wasted no time in slathering some on his arms and the look on his face became somewhat disgruntled; he hated sunscreen. It smelled funny, which only made it worse. He wiggled within his mother's grasp, wanting to go into the water and not be coated in a smelly lotion. Tearing his eyes from his father, Markov pleadingly glanced up at his mother.

Lev could tell that Markov was excited, even days before they were due to go to the beach. Now that they were here though, his excitement showed through that much more. The joy showed not only in his body language, but in his eyes as well. Lev loved seeing his son like that, and a smile on his face could make his whole week. In fact, it often did. So for the next few days, Lev would be able to think about his time at the beach with Markov and Issy if he ever fell into a bad mood. Bottom line, today was one of those days that he'd never forget. And he doubted that Issy would either. Seeing Markov's reactions to the beach and sand, brought Lev his own smile. Like his son, he wanted to go out into the water and have a bit of fun. After that, he could help Markov to build a sandcastle. However, he noticed that Issy put that on hold for a moment as she held Markov back to put on some sunscreen.
The look in his eye obviously showed that he didn't agree with her decision. But Lev knew it was all for his own good. Sunburns weren't fun, and it only took a few moments to put on sunscreen. So he made his way over to Markov and smiled. "I'd help you, but I don't think mommy would like that." He said to him. If Levy tried to get him away from Issy putting the sunscreen on, it'd probably cause some issue, although not a severe one. While Lev and Issy may've argued a lot, they never did so in front of their son. One of the last things Lev wanted was to set a bad example for Markov. He wanted him to raise him right, and in a way, be the father that he never had himself. By now, it was obvious to some that he was raised in a facility by a bunch of other hunters. So he never had a true father, or at least that's how it felt.
While his actual father had been out there somewhere, he had abandoned his own child and left him for dead. For that, Lev had no interest in him at all. He could die for all he cared. And as cold as that sounded, it was the truth. He'd never even think about abandoning Markov, no matter the circumstances. But again, Lev didn't like to let his past linger. All of his focus was on his son at the moment, and like Markov, he was eager to get out into the water and spend time with him. So once Issy was done, he took his shirt off and lathered some of the sunscreen on. Then he took Markov by the hand and led him towards the water. He knew how much he liked it along with the sand, and if he wanted to, Lev would spend all day out here with him. After all, he always dedicated his days off of work to spend time with his son.
And speaking of work, Markov didn't know what Lev truly did. He didn't want him to either. At least not until he was old enough to understand. Even then, he still wasn't sure. Knowing that your father went out and killed people for money on a daily basis, wasn't something a child should know. So for that, Lev kept it a secret. If Markov asked what he did at work, he'd simply told him that he had a desk job...which was partially the truth. While he was out in the streets about ninety five percent of the time, the other five percent required working at a desk. He sometimes had to fill out paperwork, which wasn't fun at all. But hey, it was part of his job, and he got paid to do such things. And with Markov around, he'd take whatever money he could get. So with his hand in his, Lev stepped into the water, but not the point where it was too deep.
"We could spend the whole day here if you'd like." Lev said to him. And again, that was no lie. He wouldn't mind it at all, and he doubted that Issy would either. Sure, they'd have to keep putting the sunscreen on again every now and then, but it was worth it.

“Daddy..?” His blue eyes wandered back to Lev, but his hopes had no chance in recovering as Lev walked over to where he was help captive by his mother and spoke. His tiny heart fell as his father told him that he couldn't help him, and a pout settled on his face as he turned his attention back to his mother. He just wanted to go play in the water, he didn't want the sunscreen on him. He didn't care if he got burned; it would be worth it. “I'm finished. No more.” He mewed lightly, blinking big, blue eyes up at his mother in futile hope that she was done with her lathering and smothering.
“But I am not finished with you yet!” Markov's face fell further as his thoughts drifted to more sunscreen; something close to a frown settled on his face and he shook his head, but he was unable to move away as Issy's arms snaked around him once more and drew him back. He wiggled wildly, but as his mother drew him into a hug it became present to him that she wasn't planning on lathering him up with sunscreen. She merely wanted a hug, and he was okay with that. Sorta; his mind was strictly on the water, and playing with his daddy. While he didn't know what his daddy did for work, he understood that the reason his father wasn't around like his mother was because his father had to go to work; and his work, for a good portion of the time, kept Lev away from Markov. But not now, and that was all that mattered to Markov at the moment. His mother's attention wasn't not wanted, but it wasn't high up on his list of priorities. He squirmed lightly in his mother's arms, and laughed as he tried to pull away only to be held back by Issy.
“Mommy~!” He cried, laughter lingering on the edges of his voice. He loved his mommy, without a doubt and without question, but with each crash of a wave against the shore, his excitement to be in the water grew; he was on the verge of bursting once more, and his mother's affection was only making it worse. But he found it amusing at the same time, and laughed once more before she finally let him go. He shot her a loving glance over his shoulder, smiled and darted toward his father before his mother thought of grabbing him once more and holding him back from the water.
Without hesitation he reached for his father's hand, sliding his tiny hand into his father's and nearly bouncing up and down as he looked out to the water; but he didn't have to ask. At once his father lead him off to the water, and he had to keep himself from bounding ahead and running straight into the welcoming waves. He didn't know how to swim yet and as much as he loved the water, being in the water alone was something that scared him and he wouldn't stick even a toe in without his daddy; so he held tightly to his father's hand as they waded a few steps into the water. Immediately his fright was washed away. He had his father with him, so there was nothing to be worried about.
“Really!?” Markov's blue eyes glittered happily as he looked up to his father, momentarily drawing his attention from the small waves swirling and pushing against his legs. The thought of being with his daddy all day was enough to keep a smile on his face for about a week, but the thought of being at the beach all day WITH his daddy was so wonderful it was almost unimaginable. Beyond delighted, Markov joyfully stomped his feet in the water and watched as the water splashed around him and not only created ripples in the water, but got his father wet. Finding amusement in having splashed his father, Markov smiled, laughed lightly and rose a leg high up before bringing it as hard as he could back down into the water. Beaming at the splash he made, he giggled and looked up at Lev. “I got you wet!” He stated proudly, his ordeal with the sunscreen at once fading away with the excitement of splashing.
Markov glanced over to his shoulder, to see if his mommy had seen, and a flicker of disappointment ran across his face as he saw her laying on a towel all by herself. It wasn't that she had not seen him get his daddy wet, it was that she was all alone and not in the water. He personally loved the water, and loved being wet, and he didn't understand why she wouldn't want to be in the water with him and his daddy. Maybe her foot hurt and she couldn't walk? Markov's eyes brightened with that thought; that had to be it! Feeling bad, and not wishing for his mother to feel left out, Markov swiveled back to his father and smiled, a plan forming swiftly inside his head. "I'm gonna go get my bucket." He said softly with a nod of his head, and pulling his hand from his father's before trekking back to the blankets.

Watching Lev walk to the water with Markov, Issy smiled and eased herself down upon on of their towels. She was unable to look away as she gathered her legs to her chest and placed her chin on her knee, her heart swelling with happiness as she caught sight of Markov's smile which mirrored Lev's smile. It still amazed her how much of Lev she saw in Markov, but it amazed her even more by how much it seemed she loved each of them. Just when she thought she couldn't love either of them any more, she was proven wrong. The simplest things, the silliest things, could fill her with adoration for either of them; a simple, little trip to the beach with her family was more wonderfully amazing than anything she ever before experienced, despite it not even being their first time on the sandy shores.
Her family. The word still boggled her mind in a dazzling way, and she couldn't keep herself from smiling once more at the thought of her and Lev having a child, and together having a family. She never would have thought she'd get this far, let alone with Lev, but fate worked in mysterious ways and she wasn't about to complain. The only thing she was capable of complaining about at this point in her life was getting wet: and thus the reason for her staying on the sand, on her towel, where it was nice and dry. Going into the water, even as a child, never sat well with her. Even pool water made her frown in a way that made one think she was smelling something awful, but she wasn't a complete scrooge about it. If Markov asked enough, she'd bite the bullet and go in, of course; it almost saddened her that he never asked, not even once. Either he knew that she was uncomfortable, or he was simply pleased that he had his Dad to go in the water with him.
After a moment, she closed her eyes and shifted on her towel as she laid back, enjoying the warm brush of the sun's rays on her skin. While water wasn't necessarily her friend, she loved the sun and everything about it. There were times that she'd lay out in it for hours, and thanks to her healing she'd never grow too dark nor would she burn for very long. She took in a small breath and smiled as she kept her eyes closed, throwing an arm over her eyes and idly playing with the sand with her other hand. It would have been all too easy for her to fall asleep, and she would have, more than likely, had the sound of little feet heading her way not caught her attention. Markov's scent drifted with the salty ocean breeze, and she arched her brows.
“Markov, why aren't you with Daddy?” She asked, keeping her arm over her eyes; she didn't need to see to tell that Markov had come over all alone.
“I came for my bucket.” Issy peeked out from under her arm and glanced over at him as he rummaged through his bag of goodies. A smile tugged at her lips as he smiled brightly upon finding his bucket. “Bucket!” He chirped, before fleeing back to the water where she only guessed he'd be making one of his famous sandcastles.
“Be careful..” She mused after him, biting gently on her lower lip. Knowing Markov wasn't an excellent swimmer, it made her somewhat nervous as he dashed back to the water without her but her worries were squelched as she saw him reach Lev. Feeling more comfortable, she placed her arm back over her eyes and went back to soaking up the sun. Minutes later she heard the familiar sound of small feet and she smiled. What could Markov have left behind this time? “Did you forget your shov-” Her sentence was stopped abruptly as cold water washed over her suddenly, piercing her skin and drenching her to the bone. Shock brought her into a sitting position and she let out a small gasp, though not once did she feel a touch of anger. She knew Markov to be the culprit, and it was impossible for her to ever even dream of being angry with him.
“I brought the water to you, Mommy! You looked lonely..” His eyes fell down to his feet, and Issy couldn't help but smile. He thought he was helping. The look of hesitance, of uncertainty that he did good with bringing the water to her, made her want to giggle. But she held back.
“Why thank you, Markov. That was very sweet of you... Levy!” She called, glancing out toward Lev, a feigned pout cascading down her face. “Come get your son, before I kiss him to death.” Her pout at once melted away and she turned her eyes on Markov, whose eyes grew large and bright as Issy suddenly reached out for him. He attempted to dash away, but his attempt was futile and she managed to get a hold of him. Markov squirmed in her arms, but judging by his laughter he wasn't at all too serious about getting away, and so she wasn't all hesitant in covering him in kisses like she said she was going to; whether he wanted it or not she was going to, but she was just thankful that she didn't have to fight him too much.
