It's Quiet Out Here. {Rory}

[rose]

Kit stood in the middle of the crumbling road. The moon sent sliver rays down that made her grey eyes shine. It was a warm might and she wore her denim shorts and a T-shirt. Her long brown hair was down and framed her face. Her brilliant white wings that marked her as an angel were hidden. She was here to to nothing really but she didn't want to be caught by anyone like a demon or a hunter.

She tilted her head backwards and smiled. The stars were really bright out here. All the lights of the city were a dim glow on the horizon. That was why she had come out here. To escape the bright lights and look at the night sky in its full glory. She may have been doing that for years and years but it never dissapointed her. She loved all of the twinkling stars and the big, bright moon that lit the sky up even more.

Kit sighed happily. It was just dazzling how pretty the sky was. The day and night sky were brilliant in there own way as was the transitions between the two. She just loved the sky a lot. And she love to fly through it. But for now she would just stare at it.

It was warm out tonight, so Rory had decided that it would be a good night to go exploring, or something like that anyway. He was wearing just a pair of dark gray jeans and a lighter gray tee with a pair of sneakers dragging along the ground as he walked. The shoe scraping was making a fair bit of noise, but it was night who would be out? Uh, well, everyone. But he didn't even consider this, since he always seemed to think that he would be fine no matter what, one day he would find that it is not all like that and that he may get a little hurt at some stage while he is out not paying attention to things.

As he was walking, he thought he saw something up ahead, but when he stopped to take a better look, he saw nothing. He shrugged his shoulders and spoke to himself, "pfft, probably just a shadow." And he continued on his way to god knows where, kicking loose rocks and making a fair bit of noise. Until he spotted something else up ahead. He stopped again and looked again, and he saw a female, of what he was not sure, but she was there so he had to say something, from where he was she was quite pretty.

He attempted to sneak up on her, he liked that element of surprise, when he used it on other people. Once he was not too far behind her he spoke. Excuse me miss, why are you out here tonight? It's much too dangerous for someone such as yourself." He smirked as he spoke, and afterward.

Kit was still staring at the stars when she hear a voice behind her. 'Excuse me miss, why are you out here tonight? It's much too dangerous for someone such as yourself.' She jumped and swivlied around as she let out a startled shriek. Normaly she would have just jumped and jurned but something about being on a road that was falling apart in the middle of no where and a guy sneaking up on her scared her. But she regained her compser rather quickly.

"It wouldn't be too dangerous for teenage girls to come out here if guys you have the courtisy to not sneak up behind a girl before speaking." she said back to him. "But if you must know I came out here to look at the stars. It is to bright in the city to see any of them. So I come out here to star gaze." Strands of her brown hair covered her grey eyes as she looked up at him. "What brings you out here if it is so dangerous?" she asked him. She brushed the strands of hair away from her face and let her hair frame her slightly childish face. Her T-shirt was a slim one that hugged her curves loosely and her shorts wenr to abour mid thigh nothing unusually for her honestly.

Rory had to restrain himself from laughing as she let out a startled shriek. He found things like that amusing, and of cause he had somewhat hoped for it to happen. Instead of laughing out loud, he laughed inside, almost completely disguising the fact that he had found it amusing, and if it wasn't for the obvious smirk on his face, he would have disguised it completely. He took a few steps toward the young girl, "Well, I'm sorry for sneaking up on you, I had thought that you'd have heard me." He spoke softly, and in a kind voice. He was like that, actually nice and kind, a really genuinely nice guy, the type that you'd want your daughter to marry, aside from the demon part, that was an instant turnoff. And for that reason, he did not tell others that he was demon and instead said that he was human, since he was raised as one and wished he was one, and only if they ask what he is, but never a hunter, just another everyday human that knew how to defend himself and knew pretty much everything that a hunter would, but not a hunter.

He looked up at the sky, and at what she was indicating that she came here to look at. "Stars, yes, they're nice." he said awkwardly, he had never really looked at the stars is his hundred and something years, he could have, but just didn't. He brought his gaze back down and onto her face, politeness was the key to seeming like a nice guy. "Oh, I just thought it was a nice night to go for a stroll. And a guy like me is nothing like a girl like you, danger doesn't phase me the slightest, I can look after myself." He liked to make himself out to be better than everyone else, even when he knew that there were things out there that he should be looking out for, hunters, angels, other demons, but he tried not to think about it, he'd rather go on without a worry than go on worrying about everything.

He took a few steps towards her and she took the smallest step away from him. Honestly her step was so small she only went an inch away from him. 'Well, I'm sorry for sneaking up on you, I had thought that you'd have heard me.' She smiled.

"I tend so zone out a lot." she said. he sounded so nice. Like a really good guy. But she still had to be carful. She was an angel and there were plently of things out there what would love to see her and the rest of her kind dead. Kit smiled at him and laughed. "You sound like you don't really look at the stars." It was obvious that he didn't. But it didn't matter to her.

'Oh, I just thought it was a nice night to go for a stroll. And a guy like me is nothing like a girl like you, danger doesn't phase me the slightest, I can look after myself.'

She rolled her eyes. "Oh and I can't take caare of myself because I'm a girl then? I find that to be rather stupid. But it's nice to know that there are guys out there that care about the well being of women."

She smiled and looked back up at the night sky. The moon's sliver light looked so inviting. She just wanted to jump into the sky and flap her white wings and soar through the sky. But she had to watch herslef. He was human so she couldn't just let her wings show.

She looked over at him. "Kit Bennett." she said to him telling him her name.

He smiled, "oh, well in that case I should be more careful around you." He had noticed that she has taken the smallest step back, but he didn't blame her, she was just confronted my a male in the middle of a decaying road in the middle of run-down central. If he was her, he'd most likely be a little wary of him and back down quickly, even more so that she already had. but then, he knew him, so knew what he was capable of and what he was, it was always the demon part that frightened people, he found sticking to being human was much easier when it came to not trying to scare others away. and the best part was that being a demon, you could easily say you are human because you have no damned markings, and he loved that.

he laughed a little, "is it really that obvious?" He asked, looking to the ground a little, feeling the slightest bit embarrassed about it. "I've never really thought about the sky, I mean, it's never really been something that interested me." He finished with a slight sigh, nothing major, and something that she probably wouldn't have been able to hear. He shuffled his feet a little and ran a hand through his hair, because his hands were bored.

"Oh, I didn't meant it like that, it was more of a you're kinda small and well, it's not always a good thing." He knew others that picked on females, but he wasn't about to admit that he was on speaking terms with other beings, other than humans that is. Rory glanced around, taking in the surroundings, as anything could happen and he wanted to make sure he knew what was going on around him if something did. As he was doing so, she said her name. it was only polite to do the same, "Rory." he didn't give out his last name, in the slight chance that someone might know it and know that a demon has that name, and that would just ruin his whole act.

Kit smiled at him. He was being really nice. She laughed. "Yes It is that obvious. But I don't mind. I don't find many that share my love for the sky. I always found it fasinating. Always changing. I loved it even when I was a little girl." She sighed happily. and she threw her head back again. It was so beautiful.


'Oh, I didn't meant it like that, it was more of a you're kinda small and well, it's not always a good thing.' he said.

She smiled at him again. "But sometimes it is. When you are small her you can often times be faster and far more agile. Not always but often enough to be able to take care of one's self." she said calmly but kindly.

She hear him say his name and she nodded. Rory was a good guy. He was really nice and he was looking out for her. That was nice of him. She was usually looking out for herself and maybe a few other people. She wasn't usually the one being looked out for. It was a nice change.

Rory smiled, at least she could remember what she liked when she was a little girl, he couldn't remember much about his childhood, it was far too long ago. He missed his human life and his human family, he could only imagine how cut up they would have been when he ran off. He hadn't seen them since, and assumed that they would have thought him dead, which was what he had wanted, he never would have wanted them thinking that he may have been alive out there, and worrying and waiting for him to come home, because it wouldn't have happened. It saddened him deeply thinking about how they would have died and he was still alive, as a demon, a non-human being that was brought up by a human family. He had wondered, when he discovered that he was in fact a demon, if his human parents were really his, or if they were human or not.

"True, true. But some of the things out here are really fast, and would be able to catch you, no matter how small and fast you were." He wasn't trying to scare her, but as he thought about it, what he was saying could easily scare someone. It felt a little odd, standing out in the middle of a ruined highway in the middle of the night, surrounded by god knows what, having a nice little conversation.

He glanced around a bit, he really wasn't in the mood to be jumped by some sort of creature. "Why don't we go somewhere not so open." Rory suggested.

'True, true. But some of the things out here are really fast, and would be able to catch you, no matter how small and fast you were.' Kit smiled at him and nodded.

"Yea. I guess there are. Any guy could drive by here in his car and snatch me up before I could scream. And god knows what else could come by here. I guess I could run off of the road and then follow the glow of the lights back to town." she shruged. She wasn't worried. If any idiot tried anything she would run off of the road and take to the skiesafter she was far enough away. She would be fine.

She placed most of her weight on her right leg and put her right hand on her hip casually as she placed her left foot on the ground infront of her lightly. She looked out to where the city lights glowed on the horizon. They were pretty as well and their glow in the distance making the sky orange aroung it was amazing.

'Why don't we go somewhere not so open.'

She was jarred back into realitly and she looked at him. "Uh sure." she said. "Where?" There were all sorts of places in the city they could go that weren't so open but still public. "It isn't that late yet. We could go any number of places." she said.

Rory shrugged, "might work, but I'd say that most of the things around here would just follow you into the trees and get you there." He smirked a little, but was unsure whether Kit would see it or not, if she did it wouldn't bother him, since he was only stirring her and hoped that she would see that. But what he was saying was true, most things would actually prefer to follow someone into the trees where it was dark and there was a lot of cover, less chance of being seen. "But of cause, if you could outrun them, or maybe fight them off, you'd be fine, for the most part anyway." He smiled, he never thought that someone could be the slightest bit curious to why he knew so much about these things, but then, people just didn't ask anymore, especially humans, unless of cause they were hunters and in that case he would either be out of there quick smart, or he'd just keep his illusion up, but a hunter usually was able to tell he was demon quickly, most of the time.

She asked where they could go, and of cause Rory hadn't thought of that, he had assumed that she would have somewhere in mind for them to go. "Into the trees?" He laughed, he was playing off of what he had said before about things maybe preferring to follow her into the trees to get her. He was part joker as well as nice guy. "Uh - well, I don't know. Where do you like?" He wasn't going to suggest any of his little hideouts for when he felt like being a little non-human, that would just give him away, and he didn't want that.

Kit smiled. "I know that I could be followed but I refuse to worry about it. I'm a smart girl I can think up ways to get away." She shruged and thought to herself. 'Like flying away as soon as possible. Not that I am going to say that out loud.' She spoke again. "And I am one hundred percent sure that I could do a bit of damage if they got ahold of me. I may be a young girl but I am not helpless."

She then listened to his responce to her question on where to go. 'Into the trees?' she laughed as he started laughing and shook her head. and was about to speak when he beat her to it. 'Uh - well, I don't know. Where do you like?' She smiled and looked over towards the trees.

"The forest. It is nice there. And I'm sure that you wouldn't try and take advantige of me there. And besides. You seam to care about my well being so you can stop anyone who does try and snatch me in there. Not that I would let anyone do that anyway but still." She said that the smile never leaving her face. He might think that she was kidding at first but she wasn't. She liked the forsest. She went there sometimes just to go there. She liked trees.

Rory smiled, maybe she was a smart girl, but if she was only human there was not much of a chance at all that she would be able to get away from something else, say a vampire or something like it. Well it's good to see that you have confidence in yourself. But believe me, that may not be enough with some things." he was more trying to teach her something rather than warn her about it, he was certain that she did know what she was talking about, but she didn't quite grasp the seriousness of it all, she was only human after all and humans were slow and weak, plus most of them were too stupid to know better than to think that they could take on something non-human.

At first he was a little confused, was she serious that she wanted to go into the trees? He was about to question it when he thought that she had to have been serious. A smile crept to his face as he spoke, "sure." He took a quick glance around, he didn't quite know the reason, but it probably had something to do with the fact that he didn't want this girl getting hurt so he was looking out for her. "Just a question, what do you do in the forest? I mean, like, I don't know what there is to do there, really. I never go there." Another smile crept to his face, this time it was a little awkward.

Kit frowned and shruged. "You are probably right but whatever. I Have been fine so far." And that was good enough for her. Well That and she was an angel and tended to heal herself and fly. But would she let him know that? Uh... sorry, but no. So she started walking towards the forest when he said sure. She started laughing when he asked her what she did in there bacause he never went there. "Rory?" she asked. "Do you so anything?" she joked. She smiled and shook her head.

"Alright fine. Durring the day. I will bird watch maybe. Read a book in the calming surrondings. At night. Bring a light and read. Listen to the sounds stargaze if I can find a pocket to see them through. And when ever I feel like it run climb trees talk to the animals if only you could understand them when thye acctually stop and reply to you." She sighed and shook her head. "Oh well. Nothing I can do about it."

She smiled at him. "What do you do? I mean if you don't stargaze like me and you don't go into the forest, where do you hang out? What do you do for fun?" she asked him. She wanted to know.

[rory]

A small smirk came to his lips as he hear the words You are probably right. It was like some sort of mini victory for him, being told he was right, or in this case, probably right, which to him meant he was. "Well, it's good to see that there might just be some common sense up there in that head of yours." He grinned, it wasn't really a smirk and it wasn't really a smile, it was definitely something more like a cheeky grin of a kid that had just gotten his way with something. When Kit started walking toward the forest, he followed.

"Uh, well. I do stuff." He said, kind awkwardly in reply to her saying if he did anything. He really wasn't sure what to tell her, he wandered around and stole stuff, cause some trouble sometimes and tried to fit in, that was mainly what he did. "Do you sleep?" He asked with a laugh. Of cause she did, unless she didn't of cause. He thought she did, but like that mattered.

Rory sighed a little as he thought about her question. "Well, I uh, wander around, like I was tonight, looking for something to do, someone to talk to." He smiled a little, "sometimes I see what I can find at the ruins, but really, my life is quite boring, I do next to nothing all the time."
